Vonn Halen

Some horses leave an impression far greater than the years they are given.

 

Vonn Halen was one of those horses.

 

Born in 2023, Vonn was an exceptional young stallion with the talent, athleticism, trainability, and kind, willing mind that made us believe he was destined for a remarkable career. From his earliest days, he possessed a rare combination of natural ability and genuine kindness; a horse who was completely engaged with his rider and gave everything he had to his work.

Vonn was developed under renowned horseman Brad Lund of Brad Lund Performance Horses, and it was during his training that his extraordinary potential truly began to emerge. Brad described Vonn as “the best horse he ever rode in the cowhorse.” Those words mean even more to us now.

Vonn carried an exceptional pedigree built on generations of proven performance. He was sired by the legendary Stevie Rey Von, the only living stallion in NCHA Open Futurity history to be an NCHA Open Futurity Champion, sired by a Futurity Champion, and to have sired a Futurity Champion. Stevie Rey Von has earned more than $420,000 in the arena and has become one of the most influential sires in the performance horse industry.

Vonn's dam, Angelena Time, was herself a proven producer, with more than $128,000 in NCHA offspring earnings and NRCHA money earners. She is by One Time Pepto, one of the industry's most influential sires in both the NCHA and NRCHA, and out of Lena Jo Doc.

With that pedigree, Vonn's natural ability, and the exceptional mind he possessed, we had been eagerly looking toward his debut at the 2026 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity. We truly believed this young horse was going to ROCK THE ARENA.

His life was tragically cut short by colic in 2026, before he had the opportunity to show the world all that he had to offer.

But Vonn's story does not end here.

His time was far too short, but the impression he left on us, his trainers, and everyone who had the opportunity to know him will last a lifetime. We are grateful for every ride, every milestone, every quiet moment, and every glimpse of the remarkable athlete he was becoming.

And while we wish we could have watched Vonn's own career unfold, his legacy will continue through the next generation.
